Angela is what I call a true horse professional - she is a rider who is continually training and competing as well as a trainer who's continually learning - extremely committed while placing what she learns into practice. She not only has the knowledge, skill and regard for the horse and rider but she has patience, ethics, open communication and holds the importance of safety for each horse and rider to ensure proper growth while maintaining high standards, integrity and genuine care for the well-being of each animal, the rider, the sport and the industry. Pearl and I have been privileged to ride for Angela over the past 5 years. Over these years I have grown to respect and admire Angela's patient and systematic approach to solving every problem we've come across. Angela has a unique ability to successfully train many horses, and I am glad to say that even the hottest horse will find calm and relaxation under her coaching. Angela has amazing talent, mastering both disciplines, dressage and jumping, at an international level. On top of that she does an exceptional job communicating her knowledge to students of all levels. I have ridden for many trainers over the years, and none come close to matching Angela's caliber.

Angela has been a  guiding  light for me since I first met her 9 years ago. Her professionalism, poise and pride in her work are conveyed to her students in her teaching. I, as all of her students I'm sure, feel a real sense of accomplishment after each lesson even if the ride was not the greatest. Centered on the fundamentals, she always makes everything seem so evident. I always walk away with work to do before the next lesson, which in turn helps me focus on everything in my life. In a way, Angela is somewhat of a life-coach, not just a riding coach!! This is the essence of what an instructor and trainer should be to the serious horsemen. As an instructor myself, I feel honored to pay tribute to Angela for being an inspiration and a mentor.

It has been a beautiful fall and I am still able to work the horses at home. Hopefully the weather will hold for just a little while longer so I do not have to move the horses to the indoor until January. Leaving for the H/J Show in Lake St. Louis for the two weeks in Dec. and than the year is pretty much over. It has been a good year and I hope everybody can look back and say that they made it thru the tough times alright.

 

We arrived in Chicago and it rained and rained. The rings are wet and the footing soupy. Rolex settle in and we worked just for a little while in the rain. With the nice cool weather and not gotten out the day of the trailering he was very fresh. It cleared for the jog and I got the first ride in the Prix St. Georg at 8am. The ring was soupy but not slippery. We ended up in 8th place and I was very happy with that since we did have mistakes in the tempis. We came into the Championships in 14th place so I felt like there was a chance to move up a little. On Sunday I had a better ride and we placed 11th and since the Sunday class counted for 60% we ended up in 11th place overall in the championship. Rolex did very well and I was very proud of him.

The following weekend I went to the MSEDA Dressage Show at the Horse Park in Lexington Kentucky with a young horse of my Father Rocco. He won his training level and got high score of of the show with a 76.75%. Rolex had been working so hard to get qualified for the Developing Horse Championship and did so well the weekend before that I took him and just let him have some fun at the Robert Murphy Fall Jumping show. He had a good time winning 3 out of his 4 classes.He really is a jumper by heart. Him and I had so much fun I decided to come back the second week of the jumping show and we won the level 6 (4'3") and placed 5th in the $ 3000,- Rood and Riddle Mini Prix.
